Spellchecking

Hi Ulf,

I'm assuming you're running only the Swedish edition of Office 2000 and not an additional language edition of Office?

It sounds as if you're getting an error of some sort and have already checked the settings in Word in Tools=>Options=>Spelling &
Grammar and that the language setting for proofing the text your using (Tools=>Language) is set to Swedish?

If you check your MS Office 2000 edition in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel and in the features list of that
program are the Swedish Proofing tools installed?

There are some issues/limitations of Office under the 64 bit OS that you can run into.

There isn't a Swedish newsgroup for Word on news://msnews.microsoft.com but you may want to use the link below to also post this in
the Word Spelling & Grammar newsgroup.

Hi,

I have installed a Swedish version of Office 2000 on a English version of
Windows XP Pro x64. Why can't I use Swedish spellchecking in that
configuration? The program is unable to open (the default one may assume)
Swedish spellchecking.

Hi,

Yes, I am running a Swedish Edition of Office 2000.

I get an error message reading like this: 'It is not possible to open the
file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof\MSSP_SW.LEX
for Swedish language (Sweden)'. Everything seems to be installed but the
word processor is unable to open the specific file(s). I have been checking
physically that all the necessary files are install (they are there!) - but
I can't find a verification Add/Remove program that they have been
installed.

Thank you for tip on the newsgroup. I will see if anyone else have a
similar problem.

Thank you again,

Ulf
