Split tasks / Fixed Cost?

Shawn

Hello,

I'm having difficutly organizing in my project. The problem I have run into
is this.

I have three tasks spread out at different points on my critical path, which
actually are three different phases of one task (eg plumbing underfloor,
topout, and finish). But I recieve one bid that covers all three phases.

Ideally I would like one fixed prorated cost that can be applied all three
tasks. If that makes any sense. Any suggestions? Thank you

Shawn,
Why not just apply the fixed cost to one of the phases - I would suggest
the last. In effect you are not trying to track cost with the schedule
in this case so you only really care when the plumbing contractor is
finished, because that is when the invoice is due. Or, if you pay him in
two payments, (first one to cover supplies and the last when the job is
done), then split the bid accordingly and apply the first to rough-in
and the remainder to the finish work.

Unless you're doing EVA, it shouldn't matter. If you are, then you
should divide the costs up between the 3 tasks.
