Could you please tell me why some folders show the message
after a grey line at the bottom of the list and some other
not. for example, my inbox shows it, in drafts, outbox,
deleted and some other, I just see the from, to, attach
et.... but no message. If I check "mesage with auto
preview", the message appears in the middle of the list,
which is not what I want.
Thanks for your help

What you are looking for is the "Preview Pane".

I have the ADVANCED TOOLBAR turned on and
I use the PREVIEW PANE icon to turn it off and on.

or

Select the VIEW menu
Select PREVIEW PANE

In Outlook 2000:

Select the TOOLS menu
Select OPTIONS...
Select The OTHER tab
Click the PREVIEW PANE... button
And turn on/off the options that you want to use with it.

In tools -> options -> others -> preview pane, I just
have "mark messages as read in preview pane" (which I
don't want), "mark item as read when selection changes",
and "single key reading space bar". Nothing like you
say.....
Why ???
Thanks

But first you need to turn on the PREVIEW PANE.

Select the VIEW menu
Then click where it says "PREVIEW PANE" on the menu.

You may want to turn off the "AUTO PREVIEW" in the
same menu by clicking on it.
