strange automatic formatting.

I am trying to find out what happended to cause the
following:

I open a new document, type a few lines like"testing 123"
I save the document and then close it. When I open the
document again I get the following

Testing 123
Normal
Normal
Default Paragraph Font
Default Paragraph Font
Brian Knapp
Brian Knapp
C:\MyDocuments
C:\MyDocuments
Times New Roman
Times New Roman
Symbol
Symbol
<c:WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dot
<c:WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dot

There is lot more text but I will not include it all. If
anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.
I have already removed all the templates, removed and
reinstalled office several times but to no avail.
