Strange feature

R

Robert

Hello,
Two weeks ago, I discovered a strange feature in Project Pro 2007 : a
resource was assigned at 25% on a complete task. I added some remaining
duration on this task and Project sent a message :
"You can continue at 25% or at 100% for that resource. What is your choice?"
I tried the same feature on another PC with Project 2003 and it worked the
same way.
Today, I tried again on the two PCs without any success: this strange
feature is gone.
Have you meet this feature? In which conditions ?
Thanks for your help

Hello Robert,

I must say I hadn't seen this behavior in Project until you posted. (I
don't usually mark a task complete and then add remaining duration.)

I am able to reproduce by doing precisely as you note. Create a task
with a resource assigned at less than his/her maximum units. (It
doesn't have to be 25%). Mark the task as complete, and then add
remaining work. It appears to work with any resource assigned at less
than his/her maximum units.

In quick testing the message does not occur with fixed work tasks but
does appear with fixed duration and fixed units. If remaining work is
added, the message does not appear -- only remaining duration.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
