Project Crashes when using AutoFilter or Selecting Resources

Has anyone experienced the same problem?
I have Microsoft Office Project Standard 2003 (11.3.2007.1529.15) SP3.
The issue is: Project crashes when I try one of these actions:
- Filtering the gantt chart view using the AutoFilter feature
- Selecting a resource for a task by clicking on the drop-down arrow to
select one of the existing resources.

Any hint on what the reason is and if there is a fix available? I have
searched the forum contents for a solution but found none using "crash",
"filter" and "resource" as keywiords. Seems strange such an issue has not
been catched!

Thanks for your support.

The issue could be a corrupt project plan which is common and would not be
identified easily in the newsgroups.

There are several ways to try and fix a corrupt plan. Try saving the plan
as a .MDB or .XML file and then save back to .MPP

If that doesn't fix it, try inserting the plan into a blank schedule and
uncheck the box "Link to project". Save the new plan and test whether it
has the same issue or not.

I had this issue a couple of months ago. As I recall, this is a known
issue with HP laptops using biometric software. For some reason it
interferes with drop down menus in MS Project. If you disable the
biometric software, the problem is solved. Just do a Google search,
and you can find the solution.

Any chance you're with that group I was working with in Bergamo? Just
curious.

Pls disregard if you're not using an HP laptop w/ biometric software.

Thank you Jonathan, but the problem appears also if there is no plan loaded.
So this is not my case.

Hello A,

there is high probability that what you're describing is my problem. I
am actually using an HP laptop with biometric software. Don't know yet how to
disable it, but will find it out.

I do work in Bergamo (well, close to it), but do not know what group you
refer to. Joined this Company just three months ago!

THanks again.

I just today started using MS Project 2003 on a HP Compaq 8710w and it kept
crashing whenever I chose any drop-down option on a window split.
I finally (!) managed to resolve thsi by unchecking the single-sign-on
option: HP Info Center > HP ProtectTools Security Manager > Credential
Manager > Settings > Single Sign On (tab) > (uncheck) 'Enable Single Sign On
functionality'. HP should seriously work on a resolution to this very pesky
issue...which was driving me nuts!!
Hope this helps
Regards
