Strange Newsgroup Behavior

[David M. Marcovitz]

Is anyone else experiencing strange behavior in the newsgroup? I am
using a news reader, and I am seeing messages there that I am not seeing
on the web and vice versa. Last night, I went home, and I used the web
interface, and I didn't have any new messages for the previous two days.
I responded to something (and discovered later that the question had
already been answered), but my response didn't show up in my news reader.

Now, I'm in my office, and I saw a message on the web that I didn't see
in the news reader. I responded to it on the web and haven't yet seen
either the original question or my response.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?

That's why I thought it was strange because I connect directly to
Microsoft's news server. However, everything seems to be getting back to
normal as old messages seem to be slowly filling my newsreader and the
web view seems to be caught up.

I've noticed some oddities and missing posts, too, David. The webnews team
at MS is aware of the problems and should be working on resolutions.

It's really severe right now. I'm looking at OE on one screen and the web
interface on another. The web interface is missing lots of posts, but on the
other hand has some that OE doesn't show. That's why we're seeing repeated
posts.

Apparently, this is happening with other newsgroups as well - there's a
similar thread on the Expression newsgroup.

I saw a response to one of my posts in Outlook Express, but I can't see my
original post <g>.
