I created a style that I was using in a chart. It had a split cell, bulleted list ,a negative indent , and fit cell to text features. I named it 'practice cell'. I used it in the oriiginal dooocument I was making, but when I opened a new document and tried to find it in the Style List in the format pallette it was gone. I dont know what I did/did not do to save correctly and be able to call on again.

Before searching too hard you might have a read at the following - highly
authoritative - web page:

http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/tablestyles/index.html

However, as to your current concern...

New styles aren't added to the Normal template unless you tick the Add to
Template box in the New/Modify Style dialogs. Even if you do include the
check the style will not be included among the Available Styles (Style group
of the Formatting Palette) until the style is actually used in the document.
Open that list & select All Styles.

If you did neglect to add it to Normal: You can replicate a style from one
doc to another by copy/paste of content bearing the style, then delete the
pasted content - the style will remain available in the document. You can
also use the Organizer feature to copy styles from one template/doc to
another.
