I am using Word 2003 and working with two documents, one I created and one created by someone else which I am wanting to paste at the end of my document. My document has field codes, tracking changes, etc. When I paste in the other document, it changes the heading styles to the different heading styles, which I don't want. I selected the paste option to keep source formatting but it converts the heading1 style to display article/section headings, which I don't want. What is causing this? I can paste into other documents just fine, but always have problems with this document which has the form fields. I have tried paste special with unformatting, but that will not work because we want to keep the same formatting of the other. I don't remember this being a problem with earlier versions of Word. I have looked endlessly in tools > options to see if there is something else that might ignore changing that. I thought preserve styles might be it, but no luck. Please help.

Hi Kim

It's not the form fields that's creating your problem. It's the definitions
of the styles in the document with the form fields.

As a solution, try pasting from Document B to Document A, rather than from A
to B.
