Subform disappears

Why is that when I change the Allow Edits property to No on my main form, my
subform disappears? I would like to make this entire form, including the
subform, to not allow edits, BUT I still want my users to see my fields.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are there any existing records? A form that does not allow new records and has
no current records to display will have a completely blank detail section. When
you see a blank form that is still displaying your fields what you're looking
at is the NewRecord position (which doesn't exist on a form that doesn't allow
additions).
