substitute color feature gone in powerpoint 2008

I find it very annoying that the simple and effective color substitution feature in older PPT versions has been removed from PPT2008. It was very convenient for the recoloring of non Excel charts and scientific equations imported either als JPEG or BMP. The new recolor function is not a good substitute. Is there any workaround or add on software that could restore this functionality?

This option was used by my teacher for the use of PowerPoints during classes which we can download to study, and to my great disappointment, I was supposed to see some black sheeps and some of them with different shades of grey, but they were all white to me. The same thing happened with some mouse that were supposed to be yellow but they were all grey. So now, all I can do is modify the images by myself using paint or something like that.

So, as malek asked, if anyone know an add-on or some way to get around this would be really appreciated...

Thanks! :)

I'm a fraid you'll need to be more specific - there is no feature by the
name of "substitute color" in any version of PPt and the color of objects
can be caused to change in various ways. At least provide an indication of
which version of the program was used to create the file plus any other
descriptive info you can supply.

There's nothing quoted in your message from the one you refer to & problems
with the newsgroups apparently have dropped that message out. Since there's
no message showing from anyone by the nake of "malek" it's impossible to
know what that message may have contained.

You'd need to edit the actual graphics in a draw or paint program outside of PowerPoint.

It's really a shame to lose this feature!

They'd both be referring to the old Recolor feature that let you substitute
one color for another in vector and 8-bit color images.

WebWeirdness? I see horus' reply to this post by Malek:

Hi,

If I can decipher this correctly, the colors have been turned off to
show everyting in grayscale. If this is correct, just got to the View
menu and choose the Grayscale option to turn off grayscale.

I think you may be on the right track, Jim. I know what Steve is referring
to but I don't see why that would prevent colors set in the file to appear
as grays or B/W - Not having seen the OP I had the impression of that being
the problem rather than it being one of not having the old Bitmap Editor.

Yeah, but as I just told Jim that isn't apparent from the only post I'm
seeing & wouldn't explain why colors set in the file would render
differently when viewed.

I'm not sure why the malek post isn't showing up here but it wasn't showing
up in the Windows Mail setup on my PC at work either. I'm seeing only the
reply from Horus22 & what's been posted since.

Webcrossings is now synching. That's one of the "features."

I'd only seen evidence of the problem in the Office & Word groups - perhaps
the other groups were effected, just not as severely hamstrung. If so I
wasn't aware of it... PPt, Excel & E'rage seemed to have been working fine
all along.

Ah well, if you MUST use beta software .... ;-)
