summary bars missing

I am stumped.

For some reason, some of my summary bars refuse to draw in the gant chart
area. I've checked and unchecked the hide task bar option to no avail. It
shows for all the rest of them, but some are just stubborn as hell.

Am I missing something here?!?!?!

HELP!!!!!

I know how frustrating this can be. I've had similar situations happen
to me from time to time.

Keep in mind that the Gantt bar appearance is controlled by more than
one thing. You've already checked the option to hide the bar so that
probably isn't the problem. You should also verify that there isn't some
special bar style that effectively negates the normal summary line bar
for certain summary lines. A quick way to check this is to save your
file under a new name using Save As. Then go to Format/Bar styles and
delete all bar styles under the one for normal summary lines. Do the
missing summary lines now appear?

Another possibility is that certain summary bars are individually
customized. Try selecting the summary lines with missing bars and
hitting the "reset" button under Format/Bar.

If neither of those suggestions help and you are willing to send me your
file, I will take a look at it and see if I can figure out what might be
happening.

Thanks, John and Trevor,

We have a scheduled daily scolding so it has become counterproductive,
besides I have to use my right slapping hand and it's beginning to hurt. ;-)

Here is what I've done so far from your suggestions: They are not formatted
white and I'm not using the default Gantt View. But nevertheless I copied the
Global copy back to the files'.

There is no special bar style that is negating the normal summary line
because it is the only summary line. However when I try to reformat the line
by selecting it and Format/Bar styles, it wouldn't allow me to change
anything. Very interesting. I could do all the formatting and click ok but
nothing changes. If I select format/bar styles again, it defaults back to
what it was. Can't change it.

I will desensitize the file and send it to you so can play with it. You will
notice that some summary bars with the same setup works just fine except for
this one summary line.

Thanks to John, the problem has been solved.

The errant summay line is a summary bar for a milestone task. For some
unknown reason, the Milestone Option block in the Task information dialog box
has been unchecked hence it wasn't drawing because there is no bar assigned
to that option. (And yes there will be scolding session coming up like Trevor
suggested). Checking the box back in fixed the problem and it's showing like
it's supposed to now.
