Summary Task Actual Start

I have a project with tasks outlined as summary tasks and
subtasks, and I have saved the baseline. On the summary
tasks, the fields "Actual Start", "Actual Finish", and "%
complete" are NA, NA, and 0%, and they are greyed out so
that they cannot be updated. I need for these fields to
be updated and get their information from the subtasks.
Is there a way to do this?

When you begin entering actual project progress into your project plan, the
Actual Start, Actual Finish, and % Complete fields for each summary task
will be populated for you automatically, based on the data in each subtask.

I am assuming that no start information or percent
complete inofrmation has been entered for your summary
tasks. The Summary tasks automatically calculate their
start from the earliest start of a subtask and its
fininsh from the latest finish of a subtask. The %
Complete is autmatically calculated by Project from a
very complicated formula based on all the information
from subtasks.

If you have not turnedon the option to specify a task
with an estimated duration, then this is what will show
in your summary task until durations are entered for your
sub tasks.
