surround text with a border

I have Microsoft Office 2003 and am working in "word." How can I surround
text with a border? These are the steps I've taken: borders & shading,
custom border, selected a border on the page border tab, clicked this section
only in the preview tab, then in options I selected text and had all 4 boxes
checked but it always puts the border around the entire page, not the text.
I've also tried it with the text in a text box, and I've tried highlighting
the text, nothing seems to work. What am I missing? Thanks

That's why it's called a "page border." If you want to border specific text,
you must use the Borders tab, which does not include border art.
