SYNC Question

I am confused in what would ON do in the following case:

I keep ON07 files on a usb flash drive.
I have my work and home computer.

Now suppose I use ON at "work without the usb" (so I work on the cache file)

Now also suppose I go home and "work at home without the usb" (so I would on
the cache file)

So the cache files at work and at home are different.
And the files on the usb stick are two times old: in the sense that
1. the changes made at work are not updated
2. the changes made at home are not updated

Now suppose I plug in the usb at work. So sync will be carried out.
Now I suppose I go home and plug in the usb at home:
This might be tricky because the files on the usb changed.

What will happen?

Will all chnages be updated correctly?

(The reason I am asking is that I want to work at work without a usb, and at
home without a usb. But still sometimes make one time sync between the two)

Yes, OneNote is very smart about synchronization. I recently did a video on
www.gottabemobile.com which I keep shamelessly plugging but hey, lots of
questions these days about sync have been coming in.

In the video, I showed what happened when you make two edits to a section
(even though this also applies at the page level) when working offline and
then you work online. OneNote merges the changes seamlessly. The same
applies when working offline with removable devices.

This is so much more reliable than file-based sync which has trained us to
worry about these kinds of conflicts. But really, OneNote handles it very
well.

Josh the video is great.

Thanks for the answer also.

Well sync is really sucessful, congratulations ON developers.

That is how the cache system is designed and should work. As long as
you're not doing editing which would cause a conflict between both caches
(like editing the same word in the same container on the same Page, etc.)
ON should handle a lot of offline editing against the cache, and sync the
changes when the source drive becomes available.
