System restore and Outlook problem

OK, I had massive computer problem that resulted in
removing my hard drive, recovery the data from it and
reinstalling it and Windows XP. In the data recovery
process, I daved the Outlook Express folder in the
Programs File, figuring all my emails, contacts, and
settings would be saved. I burned it to a CD. TO make
sure, I opened Outlook Express on my parents computer
(which does not have OE installed). It opened just like
it had on my computer, including all stored emails and
contacts).

However, after reinstalling XP on my computer, I was
unable to get that data! For some reason, when the CD is
in the drive and I try and open from it, it opens the
version on my hard drive!

So what I'm trying to accomplish is getting my
adress/contact list and emails from the OE files on the
CD. But with it on my computer, I can't seem to do it!

Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.
