What is the best way to accomplish this following. I have
created a database that operates off of one table.
However, i was hoping to place the data in one folder &
the reports in another. i want the ability to lock the
folder. Can I link the two databases? is there any
restrictions?

You will find a good overview of doing that here. It is called "splitting"
the database and is used for multi-user databases, but it can be done for a
single user as well.
