table of contents frame

Whenever I insert a table of contents navigation frame
into my document upon exit Word (2K) seems to create two
additional files in the same directory. Does anyone know
the significance of these two other file? Do I need to
keep them.

My understanding is that when you use Web frames, you are creating three
documents: the frames page and one page for the content of each frame.
