Word 2004 for the Mac

I have a book length document with a table of contents.

I want to include the complete toc with a few chapters in a new document I
want to send out - not the whole manuscript. When I tried this, of course,
the deleted chapters were removed from the toc.

Is there a way around this?

Thanks for your help.

In a new blank document, insert an RD field containing the path and
file name of the book document. RD stands for "reference to document",
and the field (which is formatted as hidden text) forms a link to the
book document.

Then insert a TOC field, which will take its entries from the book
document (through the RD field) and create the table of contents. When
the TOC has been updated to its final form, select it and press
Ctrl+Shift+F9 to "unlink" it, turning it into plain text.
