Hi to everyone

I want to create a table of contents , a table of index
and so on

I know how to do it. The thing that i do not know is if
there is any posibility to click on a line of the table
of contents and go strait to that part of the document?
Like a hyperlink.

Any help? Sorry but i am quite new user with those
advance things!
Thanks in advance

Hi Bill

In all versions of Word in recent memory, the page number in a Table of
Contents is a hyperlink to the relevant heading.

Since Word 2000, by default, the whole line in a ToC is a hyperlink to the
relevant heading. You can turn off that default in the Table of Contents
dialog by un-ticking the box marked "Use hyperlinks instead of page numbers"
(it should actually be labelled "Do not include hyperlinks in the text in my
table of contents", and it doesn't just apply to web pages).

Hope this helps.

Hi, Bill. If you create the table of contents by clicking on Insert | Index and Tables | Table of Contents, then in Word 97 the page number is automatically created as a clickable hyperlink that takes you to that page number, and in Word 2000 thru 2003 both the title and page number are automatically created as clickable hyperlinks unless you deselect that option.

Hi Bill

Click within the Table of Contents (or, use the keboard to get within it).
Do Alt-F9. You'll see a code that looks something like { TOC \o "1-3" \z
\u }. You need to add a \h [H for Hyperlink] switch to the codes, so it
looks something like: { TOC \o "1-3" \h \z \u }

Use Alt-F9 to toggle between the display of field codes and field result (in
this case, the result is your table of contents). Press F9 to update the
TOC, or ctrl-a to select the whole document. Then F9 to update all the
fields.

If you are shown the Update Table of Contents dialog box, choose "Update
Entire Table".

Hope this helps.

If you didn't disable the hyperlinks when you created the TOC, they're
probably still there but just not clickable. In Word 2002 and 2003, you have
to Ctrl+click to follow hyperlinks. If you have ScreenTips enabled, you
should be seeing a ScreenTip telling you this. If you prefer the old
behavior, clear the appropriate check box on the Edit tab of Tools |
Options.
