Taking a document "off-line"

We are using Project Server 2003.

I have some project team members who want to check-out a document, work on
it locally and then check the revised document back in. I can't determine
how to do this. It seems like Sharepoint is really expecting us to edit
these documents (mainly Word and Excel) in place.

Hi,

you have to do this manually in WSSv2. Check-out, Save Target as, edit,
upload check-in. In WSSv3/Project Server 2007, you can subscribe with a doc
lib with Outlook 2007. So you have the lastest version of all project doc
available offline. You can edit it and Outlook manages the upload also.

Kind regards,
Renke

Thanks for the reply. I can accept the process as described. But, when I
do the upload, does it create a new document? How does it know to upload it
as a new version? Is there something special I need to do?

Thanks,

Walter
