target and start in for outlook

I cannot get outlook to start. For some reason my start
in line is gone and the target has changed. It will not
let me change the target and I cannot get it to except
the start in address.

I am getting my email in outlook express, but have not
changed it to my preferred and I cannot get the view pane
off.

Can anyone help????

If you are talking about the lines you see
in 'properties, when you right click on the shortcut, I
might suggest that you delete that one and create a new
shortcut from the current folder.
