task affect milestone

milestone in project has slippage which is caused by predecessor tasks. But
it is difficult to find out which tasks are the original tasks affecting the
milestone, because so many dependencies and links between tasks.
Can anyone help me to find in a quick way? Thanks

Alex,
Set a hard date constraint on this milestone, such as Must Finish Not Later
Than... so that it cannot slip. and look at the Total Slack of each task (in
the Schedule table for ex.). All the negative values will show you the tasks
which are affecting the milestone.

Hope this helsp,

Two other things to consider. There is some VBA code written by one of the
MVPs that will trace a task's predecessors. You can find that at
http://www.mvps.org/project and there is a code link in there.

Another altenative is a companion product (also listed on the same link),
called Pert Chart Expert. This will allow you to select a task and
graphically see the predecessor chain. One of the views shows slack which
allows you to fully exploit Gerard's solution.
