Task Duration increases if resource increases

S

Stephen Moras

Hi guys,

I have a strange problem. I have a task which say takes 80 days to finish.
When i put 2 resources it takes 40 days and the more resources i put in the
more the duration reduces which makes sense. But when i am say entering maybe
the 7th or 8th resource the duration instead of reducing actaully increases.
This weird problem is not consistent and i cannot replicate at will..For a
mkoment i thought maybe its becoz the resource i have put in is on leave, so
ic hecked their calendars but no problem there..So i am bit puzzled..

In whch conditions does a task duration increase when more resources r put
in. IS there a limit to the number of resources for a task?

Hi,

It MUST be a matter of resource calendar. There is no limit, and the same
formula applies throughout.
Look at the Task Usage View to see exactly who does what when.

The Gantt Chart view does NOT supply enough information whan you have
multiple resources on a task.

And instead of trying to discover the rules one by one, you might look up
the help on task type and effort driven..
