tasks hidden? numbering jumps

I have 1-78 named tasks. I've put in another several, which are not showing
up. When I go to add another task, it gives it the number 87. Which would
mean I have 9 tasks out there "hidden," though I can't find a way to "show"
them. Ideas?

I've tried sorting by ID and they still don't come up.

Do you have the filter "All Tasks" active?
Isn't there a "closed" summary task?

Do you have any external links?

Go to the Tools Menu, select Options, then the "View" tab and make sure that
the show external predecessors and successor boxes are checked.

What happens when you sort by task id in DESCENDING order? They should show
at the top...
