Template not using Current Date for New Doc

Using Word 2003 - Windows XP Professional

New document is opened using Template (DOT) which Date
Created is used.
This works properly in most instances.
Most of time, it will properly show today's date, but the
odd time it will show date created of the template. This
is wrong.

Anybody have any ideas why this might be happening ?

If the template contains a { CREATEDATE } field AND the document is created
by selecting New from the File menu (or by using the VBA command
Documents.Add "templatename") then the date in the document will be the data
that the document was created.

If that is not always happening, it sounds like some of the time File<Open
is being used to actually open the template.

Thanks Doug.
The process is File - New - and select the template from
the list. Same as any other template of this type. It's a
P.O. Form ( fill in the blanks for items being ordered
with supplier )
My problem is very weird, becuase other people use this
template without problems. Then, I get once out of twenty
usages, the CREATEDATE of the template, appears as the
date of the NEW document, not today's date.
- Could there be a bug with Word 2003 ?
- Should I revise the template to use another Date value ?

The date of the documents created from the template will be the date on
which those documents were created, and if that was not today, it will NOT
be today's date.

I have been using Word 2003 through all of the Betas and since its release
and have never had not heard of your problem. I do not think it is a bug.

What do you mean by " appears as the date of the NEW document, not today's
date. "

The problem sounds like the document protection to enable the form. You'll
need to call an Unprotect routine, select the bookmarked item, then recalc
the selection and call a protect routine to re-enable the form. Don't forget
to use the Noreset option for the protect command. GL
