I used Word Microsoft Office 2003 to insert a MS Word picture.

I drew a text box and close the editor. However, in the word document, the
text is outside the box.

I reinstalled MS Office 2003, and problem remains.

Thanks

What "editor" are you referring to? What sort of text box? What wrapping are
you using on the picture and text box, respectively?

Thanks for the inquiry.

I did it this way: Insert->Object->Microsoft word Picture->insert a text box
and enter text in the box->close picture. I could see that the text is not in
the box.

The editor is just the Word buit-in one for Word pictures.

The wraping is "in-line with text". However, I had just a text box on the
canvas and there's no text arround the object.

The problem is repeatable on a blank Word file.

Thanks.

Okay, you should be using Insert | Text Box to insert a text box and Insert
| Picture | From File for the picture. You should not be inserting a picture
(or text box) as an object in either case.

Thank you suzanne for the response.

"Insert | Text Box" is really a convenient way. I didn't know that. I will
use this way when I draw flow diagrams.

I've been using "Insert | Object | Microsoft Word Pictures + drawing bar"
for a long time. Therefore, I still need you to solve my problem to salvage
my old works. Currently, my old works look good in the document. However, if
I make any change to the object, text will go out of the text box. I have
screen cuts that can let you understand better. Please let me know if my
problem is not clear to you.

Thanks.

When you create flow diagrams, note that there is a separate selection of
AutoShapes just for flow charts. You can insert one of these AutoShapes and
then right-click and choose "Add Text" to create a text box inside the
shape.

I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help with your previous drawings, as I've
never used anything but the relatively new drawing tools in Word.
