Text Box

After I create a slide and shrink the text to fit the slide I save it. When
I open it up again the text for the slides goes back to its origial size and
off the slide. I again shrink the text and save, but it does not save.

Wow, there must be something in the water on this group because we're seeing
more and more reports of this issue.

Which version of PPT?
Have you installed all service packs for Office?

Which version of Windows?

Does this happen with "manual" textboxes or with text placeholders? "Manual"
textboxes are those you place on the slide yourself by clicking the textbox
tool on the Drawing toolbar and then clicking on your slide. Text
placeholders are those textboxes that are already on the slide and say
"Click to add text" or "Click to add title."

Yes I believe I have installed all office updates and I also use Windows XP
Pro. My ppt is 2003 and I use text placeholders.

Thanks. Here's a response I just posted a few minutes ago to someone with
(what sounds like) the same problem. I was wondering about the Windows XP
service packs because we've seen a minor surge in posts about this problem
lately, and there was a WinXP SP a couple of weeks ago that caused all kinds
of weird problems so I was wondering if it's related.

I'm going to guess
that you're running into a known issue that doesn't seem to be fixed with
the Service Packs for Office 2003. Here's an explanation and possible
workaround.

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...ans+master+font&rnum=1&hl=en#5ff293b4047e0c8d

What I usually do is copy the placeholder and paste it on the slide, which
removes its "placeholderness" and turns it into a regular textbox that's not
tied to the master. Then I delete the original placeholder.

Alternatively, I create a slide master that has the text sized the way I
want it for that slide so I don't have to do any direct formatting on the
slide. I suspect this isn't as reliable as the copy/paste solution, though.

Another alternative is to use a blank slide layout (Format|Slide Layout and
choose "blank" -- the one with no placeholders) for the problem slides.
