Text in margins

I am sure I have seen an explanation of this function and can longer find
it.

I am using Word 2000 and would like to add text in the left hand margin.

Hi Michael,

Insert a text box (Insert > Text box) or a frame (button on the Forms
toolbar), position it in the margin, and type the text in it. You can
use Format > Text Box to turn off the border around the box.
