Text in PPS Slides

How do I edit-out unacceptable text in the odd slides which are part of a PPS
email that I have received and wish to pass on AFTER editing?

Additional Information.
The particular slide that I wish to edit has the following text (as part of
the picture):- MERRY swear-word CHRISTMAS. I wish to delete the swear-word
and add a more acceptable word. However, I cannot get the text block in
order to delete/edit the word. I THINK that I may have to cover it up with a
word of my own, but I don't know how! Can anyone help, please?

You have to have the full version of PowerPoint on your system, then it is
just a matter of opening the pps file, make your changes and save the file.

If the text is on an image, yes, you'll either have to edit the image or
cover the image.

Create a rectangle and add a fill to it. Make the fill the same color as the
background of the image. Use that to cover the word. Select the image and
the rectangle and use Draw|Group so that when/if you move the image on the
slide, the word won't be uncovered. (To add a rectangle with a fill, click
the rectangle tool on the Drawing Toolbar, click on your slide to create the
rectangle, then double-click the rectangle itself. Add a fill color on the
"colors and lines" tab.)

Then just click the textbox tool on the Drawing toolbar and add your own
word.

Do you need to know how to open and edit a PPS file?

You are the first to understand my problem! Thank you very much, and as for
the opening of a PPS file, I only THINK that I know but I would be really
grateful if you could explain it to me, please. Up to now, I have only
received, watched and forwarded the slide shows and this one I like but want
to forward to a few people who could be a little easily offended.

So Thank you again, and I look forward to your next email.

Save the PPS file from your email to your hard drive.

Open PowerPoint, then navigate to the PPS file you saved on your drive.

Make the changes and save the file. When you go to File|Save As, there's a
"save as type" option at the bottom of the Save As dialog box -- you want to
choose the "PowerPoint Show *.PPS" option.

Then compose a new email and attach the file you just saved.

The reason I asked about this is it's not uncommon for people to
double-click an attachment to open it directly from their email, make
changes and save, and expect those changes to be retained in the attachment.
It doesn't work that way. You have to save to your harddrive, make changes,
save, and reattach to an email.

Thank you, Echo S, it worked!!

I have also printed out the replies that you have sent me, so that I will be
OK in future editing!!

Once again, many thanks, and all the best for the New Year.
