No, fields in Project are the underlying Project database fields that
hold all the data. Text boxes are simply a graphical adjunct to the
display. Fields are viewable in Project by displaying them as columns in
a view. For example, the Task Name field is normally the 2nd column
shown in the Gantt Chart view. One of the spare task text fields, (there
are also independent Resource and Assignment text fields if you really
want to get confused), can be added to a view via several methods. One
simple method is to select a column heading and right click the mouse.
Select "Insert Column". Then select a spare text field (e.g. Text1) on
the Column Definition window. To make the text in the spare field
display in the task bar, go to Format Bar Styles. In the lower portion
of the Bar Styles window, select the spare field to show in the bar.
