Text settings in Publisher and Word

When I type (insert text) into Publisher and Word, the typing appears on my
monitor in a very light gray color which is very difficult to see. I have
checked the font color settings, etc., but cannot figure out how to make my
typing appear on my screen as it should ...in black type.

Your font colour by default is normally taken from your Windows theme -
Right-click your desktop > Properties > Appearance > Advanced: check the
options there.
