I need some advise on which books are the most informative and helpful
for a novice when learning the "how-to's" for Publisher 2002?
The first thing I would do is learn about DTP - if you don't properly
understand the basics of DTP, then you will not progress very quickly in
Publisher.
Then I would learn about design - if you don't know design, your Publisher
output will be flawed and people may blame the program.
A great introduction to both of these is the Publisher 97 Companion, which
also provides some focus on Publisher (although some of the details are
out-of-date). I picked it up on eBay for sub-$10.
Once you've got that under your belt, I'd recommend starting work in
Publisher, experimenting, getting used to the IDE. Use the help files. You
may find that you don't need a book at all after that!
