the master view in powerpoint isn't translating into the actual

I am setting font sizes, fomatting the size & location of placeholders etc in
master view and yet it is changing when I move to normal working view. How
can I stop this as I'm trying to set templates for the whole office to use.

After you make all the changes to the Master are you saving as a template
file .pot?

You need to doe this for your options to used over again by yourself or
others.
