the movie won't play

i added a movie to microsoft powerpoint and when its in the view slide mode
the video wont play. It plays in windows media player and it plays when u set
it up as a linked button. I want in my powerpoint because it makes it look
much better and it only displays a white screen ive tried heaps of ways and
its really annoying me
