I have just installed Office 97 on my new computer that is running Windows
XP. Installation was fine but at the end it did say that 2 Windows XP
installation files had been overwritten with unrecognised ones and to insert
my original Windows XP installation disk to correct these files, which I
presume it did. The problem that I have is that when opening previously saved
Word & Excel files it says that there is already a file with that name
already open, when there isn't another file open with this name, but it
doesn't go on to prevent me opening, working on & resaving my file that it
says is already open with the same name. By the way I haven't yet installed
SP2. Any of the Office 97 service packs available for download seem only
suitable if you're running Windows 98.
