Themes in Word

Hello,
I try to save a theme in word 2007, like I did that in PowerPoint 2007. In
PowerPoint I can set the theme as a default theme, and if I open PowerPoint,
I see the default Theme. It is saved in the document: C:\Documents and
Settings\Userprofile\Application Data\Microsoft\Sjablonen\Document
Themes\Default Theme.thmx. (Dutch language) I would like to think that this
is also the default theme for other office 2007 product, but in Word, it
doesn’t work. Is there a way that I can set the default theme for Word?
If I open Word, I can save the style set, colors and Fonts and set that as
default. These settings are saved in the normal.dotm. For every people in our
company, I want these default settings, but I don’t want to copy the
normal.dotm (that I make) to their normal.dotm. I ‘am afraid that they lose
there own settings that they make and that are set in the normal.dotm. So,
can I save the default settings on a different way for each person in our
company?

Open your template as a document (via the Open dialog box) and apply the
desired theme. Save and close the template file. The next time you create a
file from that template, the chosen theme will be applied.

I have only one template that I make with PowerPoint. That Theme is also
available in Word By Pages Layout/Themes, but I can't open that Template in
Word.
Someone in the "Discussions in Word General Questions" some one ask: In word
2007, can I set a theme as the default theme for new documents?
And the answer was:
Yes. Open Normal.dotm, set the theme as desired, then save it. Thereafter,
new documents based on Normal.dotm will use that theme.
I Try that, and it works. So my first question is answered.
The only thing that I want to know is, can I change this setting for
everyone in our company so, that I don't have to copy the normal.dotm (that I
make) to their normal.dotm. I want to do this for them, so that every one
has the standard style of our company!

Themes can be shared across Office 2007 applications, but not templates;
they are application-specific.

This is equivalent to what I suggested in my previous reply.

The best solution is to distribute a template to all users, and have them
use it for the company documents. This can easily be done by the network
administrator via a log-in script, or the template can be manually copied
into each user's templates folder.

Hello Stefan,

I make a template with a theme and some letters and some changes in the
headings from the styles. I save that template. If I reopen that in Word, I
see everything that I put into the template. But if I put that dotx into
C:\Documents and Settings\Jet\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP,
everything is gone. Can You Explain that?

Hello Stefan,

So, the only way to give everyone the same lettertype, styles and the same
theme is to change the normal.dotm and put that in everyones profile? The
best way to do that is to open the normal.dotm, make a new style set and
colors (fonts are available in the style set) and set that as default. I also
change the theme (I make that with powerpoint) and save the normal.dotm. Is
that the right way?

Well, in theory you could do this. But users may no appreciate it, when they
lose their individual customizations (many of which are stored in the Normal
template).

Instead, it would be better to add a custom template to the profile (that
is, to the user templates folder), and teach users to create documents from
templates (via Office button | New).
