I have to code an application which picks up data from DB,shows in
word2003 , and user can edit the same data, so if user Clicks on a Table
colums 1 , a small text box will pop up with existing value say "a",
and if user changes it to "b" , and closes the Text box, in Table column 1 ,
"b" should be visible instead of "A",
The same i have to implement for a set of pre formatted Word Document, whose
Values are coming from DB,
i have to code it in word 2003
Any Help will be greatly appreciated

Why, may I ask, have you to use Word as a front end to a database?

If I had to think of the worst tool possible for this job I would choose
Word. I honestly wouldn' consider this route because it's not the right
tool for the job; a word processor is streets away from a database data
editor.

If you have Office installed I would look at Access to do this or if you
have VB then use that. But using Word would reduce your will to live
significantly.

Malc,
This is not my Idea but the requirement.
But what i need is when you open a word doc, and click on
a label Name say "Malc", a small text box will pop up with "Malc" as text
in it,
and i can change it to "Sameer" , the same step i will repeat it for all
the labels/Tables etc of the word doc , and finally press save, then the
edited word Document will be saved..
i heard that this can be done easily in word 2003,using some task panes or
grids...
but i am not sure,
any help on that .... will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Would you be happy with selecting a row on a table and then clicking on a
button which would produce a user form which then allows you to edit the
record?

Just changing the text in cell manually and then saving it back to the
database would also be easy but The Wrong Way To Do It.

Data grids and things also live on the user form. If you wish to use
Data Grids then use Access rather than Word.

I can think of how it could be done but this is one of those projects
which I wouldn't want to get involved with because I can also see a lot of
other problems arising.

I really think that this is a strange requirement using a Word Processor
to edit databases. What's the logic behind this requirement?
