"Today" in the value property for a text box?

How do I put "Today" into the advanced properties of a textbox as the date
right now? I put it as the initial value of the field in the field box under
properties, but when I go to save or publish the form it gives me an error
that I need to have a time in there, and it won't save or publish unless I
actually go in and type in a date. This will not do, as the date changes day
to day, but the date that gets saved in there will not! So, although I have
Today in as the initial value of the field, I still need to put Today, as the
date, into the value property so it changes every day. Does this make sense?

I put Today in for the Value in the advanced Properties box, and the word
Today is actually spelled out in the text box. I put it in quotations
("Today") but again, still spelled out. How do you get the form to save
without furnishing one specific date in that field? I need a rolling date
here.

The function you're looking for is Date, not Today.

"Today," by the way, would be a string literal.
