toolbar question

I am using Powerpoint for Macintosh, Os X.2

If I recall correctly, there used to be "File" and "insert" items
on my main toolbar, at the top of the screen, but they have
mysteriously disappeared. I have tried to replace them in the
"Customize" menu under "Tools" but I don't understand the rather
minimal instructions included with the on-board "Powerpoint Help"
menu. Has anyone else experience disappearing menu items?

I tried reinstalling the program from this disk but this did not help.

Thank you! Big presentation tomorrow! Help!

Rob,

I'm working blind here....but try

Right click (I said I was working blind) any toolbar....choose
"customize"...on the toolbar tab click "reset"

That should set your menus back to how they normally are

Hi TAJ and Rob,

You're really close, TAJ, but Rob might get to reset only a single button if
he control-clicks on a toolbar. The menu does not respond to control-click
(right-click to Windows folks).

Rob would be better off using Tools > Customize. On the Toolbars tab with
Menus selected click the Reset button.

That's really funny :) I started typing the response with
"Tools>Customise>etc", then changed it to 'right click any toolbar' figuring
that's a quicker way!.

Cheers

Actually, it works alright if you Control-click one of the group separators
on a toolbar, or if you click any blank space in the Formatting Palette. It
just doesn't work if you Control-click elsewhere in a toolbar (like a
button).
