Toolbars and Settings on Word 2003

R

rc59

My toolbars, and settings keep changing when I open Word 2003. Does
anyone know how to fix this problem. I set it up so I have ARIAl font,
and I remove some of the buttons that I never use, but every time I
open Word it goes back to the former settings.

Is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 installed on the computer? If yes, then the
Acrobat 7.0 Create Adobe PDF toolbar add-in for Word prevents
Word from automatically saving changes to the normal.dot template
(which is where toolbar customizations are stored). See
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331259.html for several
solutions to the problem.

The site you reference says to update to Acrobat 7.0.8 but I have that
installed and still cannot save my custom settings.

WIth further experimentation I see that most settings have been saved.
It's the compatibility settings that seem to be saved per file. I
didn't realize that some of the settings are saved specifically for
each file while the rest apply to all files (new and existing).
