Track changes error

Jamie

Hello,

My boss was working with an old doc in Word 2000 which had no visible
changes. He printed it here at work and there were still no visible changes.
When he submitted it to someone, that person printed it and saw all my
boss's old tracked changes. My boss printed the doc at home and got the same
result, and then was able to see the changes on-screen at home.

Could this be the result of going from Word 2000 to a newer or older version
of Word? I'm at a loss.

Thanks for any help,

Jamie

On thing that we do to help prevent that type of error is to use
the security feature of Word to send a notice that there are
tracked changes in the document every time the document is
printed.

From the Tools menu, select Options. Select the Security Tab.
Place a checkmark in "Warn before printing, saving or sending a
file that contains tracked changes or comments". This option is
available in Word XP or newer.

In Word 2000 or earlier, I would suggest working with the
Reviewing toolbar displayed. Then before sending the document
onto someone else, click to the Next Tracked Change. This method
is not entirely foolproof though. Printing the document to PDF is
one of the best methods for ensuring that what the person sees is
exactly what you want them to see.
