Track Changes in Word 2003

Marilyn

I'm currently working on a 19 page Word document with track changes turn on
and lots of changes being made. When I attached the file to an email and the
file is open from the email Word changes the page numbers in the table of
contents and the person opening the file is listed as the person who made a
change in the footer of the document.

I have tried saving the file as .txt and back to .doc and the same thing
keeps happening. I have tried the detect and repair in word and same thing
keeps happening.

I re-inserted the Table of Contents and when the file is open track changes
points to a change on the TOC that was made long ago. is there a way to
clear the track changes history? I keep recreating the TOC but Word keeps
telling me that a page number was deleted from the TOC and a new one was
entered.

I have even tried rejecting all changes and copying and pasting the text to
a new doc, but when track changes are turn on it insist the TOC was changed.

Please HELP!!!!

To avoid at least some TOC problems, make sure the recipient is not opening
the file in Reading Layout view. But note that if pagination changes as a
result of a different printer driver (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/TextReflow.htm), then the TOC (and
certainly page numbers in the header/footer) will generally be updated on
printing or switching to Print Preview, and these will be marked as changes.
