Track Changes - Word

My document keeps crashing and I believe it is related to all the track
changes I have. Any suggestions?

I've been having the same problem. I'm editing a 217-page file in Word 2002
and there are lots of changes tracked, as well as comments. I keep the
changes hidden for ease of use. In three or four hours of work, Word has
frozen up at least three times. It seems to be when I'm using Alt-up arrow to
jump up a few paragraphs and over a page break. Does anyone have an idea of
how to deal with this? Should I cut the file in half so it's shorter
(currently nearly 900 K)?
