Track changes

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I don't seem to be able to "permanently" turn off the "track changes" feature on a document. I have selected all text, clicked off all track changes features via the dialog box, and then saved the doc. Still, when I close the document and then reopen it, it displays with the track changes feature on. I don't have any need for this, and would like to find a way to keep track changes turned off unless I specifically want it on. I do not have the reviewing toolbar open. Can anyone help?

Changes tracked in a document will be retained indefinitely until they have
been either Accepted or Rejected. Turning of Track Changes only stops the
tracking as of the last changes made.
