Tracking changes

When I use the tracking changes option in tools it leaves
a vertical line on the left side of the document. How do
I get rid of this line. Many thanks!

Stephen, Tools > Track Changes > Highlight Changes > Options. In the Mark:
field under Changed Lines, select None. (Word 2000; YMMV).
