Tracking tasks +adding a resource= changes in past work & costs

Hi!
I have the following problem, which I think I explain
better with an example:
I planned the duration of a task, say 10 days, using
resource "A" full-time. While executing, say at day 5, I
realized that the task is not progressing as planned and
that it will require another resource to finish the task
on time. Therefore, I assigned the resource ("B"). When I
did the latter, I wanted to change work and costs for the
remaining 5 days (future). However, changes affected
previous five days(past),as well, which ocurred with only
resource "A" assigned.
Does anyone knows how to avoid this problem???

Thanks for your help!!!

If your task is at day 5 out of 10 days, you should have entered at least
some actual progress on the task. You could enter it as a % Complete or as
Actual Work performed, but you should have added some progress before you
attempted to add a second resource. That is the source of your problem.

When you add extra resources after a task is already under way and which has
had actual progress entered, then Microsoft Project will split only the
Remaining Work portion of the task between the two resources. After doing
so, you can then reapportion the Remaining Work between the two of them.
