Tracking with a Baseline

N

NewsGroup

While reading the features of MS Project I understood that it is possible to
save upto 10 baselines for a single project.
Is it possible to track the current schedule with any of the baseline saved?
If so how to do it?
Please guide me.

Hi,

First, to be precise, tehre is the possibility of 11 baselines (one called
baseline, the others baseline1-10)
Comparisons to the baseline are builtin: you have variance fields
(startvariance, finish variance, cost variance...) and the Tracking Gantt
view provides a graphical representation of the time differences between
current plan and baseline.
Comparisons to the other baselines ae not provided standard but the
possibilities to have them calculated is there:
- By putting the appropriate formulae in Custom Fields, you can have Project
calculate the variances;
- By creating your version of the tracking Gantt (using Format, Bar Styles)
you can show the differences graphically. For this, see FAQ 31; URL of the
FAQs in my signature.
Hope this helps
