transfer office XP from one computer to another.

We will be retiring an older Dell (500 Mhz) very soon. How do I un-install
the Office XP on it and transfer it to the new computer? Data files, no
problem. It's Word, Excel, and all that other stuff. We are going to convert
the older pc to a mail server.

If you have the install CD from Dell I do not see a problem. If you do not
have the Word,Excel on a CD you cannot just take it off or transfer it from
computer to another

I have the CD's but Windows XP did not come with the first Dell, it was an
upgrade from Office 2000 Pro. Also, I know if you wait 120 days you can
re-install a MS product, but 'how many times?' I know some of the newer
products have an un-install feature that notifies the software company that a
product has been removed from a computer and thus be moved to another, even
using the CD's for an install. Then there is the problem of all the updates!
In as much as hardware is being upgraded faster then software you would think
MS would come up with an easy way to do this.
