Transferring to a new computer...

I bought a computer from Dell about a week ago. I immediately purchased
Microsoft Office (Student and Teacher Edition 2003) and installed it.
However, I discovered that Dell is having a new sales deal this week, which
is motivating me to return the computer I just purchased for an upgraded one.

Can I make a back-up disc for the application of MS Office that I just
installed, or do I lose it? I couldn't find anything in help menus and such,
so if someone could let me know, that'd be great. Thanks very much in advance.

You lose it. The software supplied with a new computer is OEM and may only
be installed on that system and no other.

Oh and merely copying all the files to a CD won't work. Office scatters
files over most of the disk. If you want Office with your new system
(assuming Dell will allow you to return it) you must purchase it with the
new system.

I'm not sure I understand exactly how you acquired the Office program
but you can ask Dell, it seems to me that if you bought the program
from them and installed it from the CD after you received the computer
they should not require you to return the Office CD when you return the
old computer.
